Watch and learn why we will never get an R rating for games

Taken from an ABC show called QandA, a question was raised on it this week that asked about the lack of a
Watch as the ill-informed put forward their 2 cents and the guy who asks the original question, doesn't even bother to correct the host when he summarises the game incorrectly, or get a chance to correct any of the panel members when they generalise. Also enjoy the broad sweeping ill-informed comments that they clearly haven't researched themselves about a topic they've barely experienced in their own lives.
As many Kotaku posters have mentioned HERE... face it, we're boned if the lawmakers and politicians in this country continue to rely on lack of knowledge and a lack of interest in this issue.
Watch as Barnaby Joyce mentions the presence of rape in a computer game without qualifying that statement by mentioning the name of the game he's referring to. Most likely because it doesn't exist which is typical of the verbal diarrhea that this guy continually speaks.
I've said a number of times myself that nothing will happen unless the Australian Games Retailers lobby the government due to an argument such as "perceived lost income through imports". It's only then, when businesses weigh in on this argument that change might have a chance of happening.
Unfortunately it's plainly clear to see now that the voices of gamers, no matter how clear the arguments, how clear the points raised, no matter how well researched we make ourselves going into the debate, nothing will happen because people such as the ones in the panel on this show simply do not "get it" and they never will.
Interestingly, the panel member, Senator Mark Arbib clearly admits to having the least knowledge about the games being discussed, but has the most down to earth and common sense approach to the topic being discussed. I tip my hat to you good sir.

Ok, end rant :-) Everyone will just import Fallout 3 from New Zealand anyway, but obviously we shouldn't have to.
Although a topic close to the heart of many Australian gamers, i've never really been that interested in using XBW as a soapbox for arguments such as this. After watching that video though and seeing just how wrong these politicians are about basic points in their arguments, well.. sorry, I just had to have a little rant :-)
Have a watch of the video, then stop by this thread in our User Forum to share your thoughts.
