Yep, for sure. All the new teams/tracks/drivers are in. Up until now the game was modelled with 2009 cars as placeholders.
Codies have invited a number of C.M forum members to preview the game in London on March 17th so a lot of videos etc will surface shortly after. Sounds like it will be the best F1 game in some time. |

New screenies and an "announcement" from Codies due today (UK time).
Can only think the announcement will be a release date. Word is it will be released the weekend of the Singapore G.P (24th Sept). Quite late in the season unfortunately. Good season for the sport to return to Xbox. Equal highest number of tracks this year. 24 cars on the grid. Good times for all. |

BAM!

Yeah rather than being about outright performance it was all economy and conserving tyres, engines, fuel, etc. May have just been the track that caused teams to behave that way. I hope so otherwise this will be one of the most boring seasons yet.

F1 has been on a downhill spiral for a few years now. The people in charge are retarded and are dragging the sport down. Soon nascars could be more entertaining.

So disappointing hey. The FIA are trashing the sport one rule at a time....
The most simple solution is a standard aero package (with no winglets, no double diffuser) and a lot more mechanical grip from the tires. Hey presto, the cars can overtake again. Currently it's not racing, it's an aerodynamic demonstration. When I heard the various race engineers telling drivers "don't push, save the tires" I knew this season was already dead. I've got $100 on Vettel for WDC at 7/1. That's the only thing that will keep me watching sadly. |

Started watching last nights 'parade' and turned off halfway through.
While standardized aero could make racing better, F1 is about developing new technology as much as it is racing. Restricting the teams to standard chassis/engine/aero would take the F1 out of F1.

Yeah I recorded the F1's Sunday night and sat down to watch it Monday. After 15 odd laps I fast forwarded to the end to see who won. I was all pumped about this season and it pissed me off. On the first lap they were going 8 seconds slower than qualifying with a full tank. Where's the excitement in watching pedal cars??

Yeah, you're right - administrators, sponsors and politics are ruining all sports.
F1 needs to fix the aero problem asap. The double diffuser creates such a vortex that no car can follow closely without overheating and shredding tyres. It's a joke and definitely not racing. Seriously, why hold the first race in Bahrain? It's a shit track and nobody goes to the race. Anywho, Codemasters are showing off the game in London today - there should be plenty of videos surfacing. I'll link to any that I see around the place. |

IGN preview
Also there are some good videos floating around Youtube from Codemasters forum members who were invited to play the game. I can't link to them as I can't get on Youtube at work. |

Looks terrible. I dont mean the graphic quality but the style of gameplay and handling.
Just seems the same as those old Playstation f1 games. Cant we have a Microprose grandprix sim style please instead of arcade crap

Regardless, you'll never see a hardcore F1 sim on consoles. Codies bought the F1 license to make money, not satisfy the ~1% of the market who want a full blown sim. That's life unfortunately. EDIT: It's probably starting to sound like I work for Codies, but here's a message the chief developer posted after people bagged the demonstration - Guys - I can assure you we're aware of all these things. If you read a gripping novel that was half-way through creation would you assume it'd be released in that state six months later? Actually, looking at what some developers put out perhaps you would The version that people got to play last night was a snapshot of where we were in development. We didnt have the rules/penalties in-game, the damage doesnt do anything to the performance of the car yet, we're yet to balance how easy it is to suffer damage, the AI has only recently started running around the tracks at appropriate speeds and we made a couple of last-minute handling changes that caused minor problems (like lack of brakes!). I asked for the build to not be 'fixed' in case we inadvertedly broke it all. Think of it as an 'Arcade Machine' that allowed players three vanilla laps at Monza. It's also worth noting we can make the AI cars match real life lap times and have every intention of doing so in the release version. Since we're still working on the handling, we dont update the AI all the time to drive the latest physics setup (it takes time). Basically, we're exactly where we expected to be pre-Alpha (Alpha, Beta, Gold) and fully understand we have a lot to do. I hope people liked the work in progress version though, we had a few late nights getting that together. |
