Hi all, I'm the proud owner of a new 360 but have question regarding the controller. When I first turn on the console I have too plug the play&charge cord into the machine for ten minutes or so till the light goes green and then can use it wirelessly, it won't work till i plug it in, even when its charged. also is there anywhere in the dashboard that shows the remaining charge left? The little instruction note that comes with the kit says there is but I can't find the thing.
Thanx all.
Umm, it your contoller isnt connecting to your 360 then you have a problem. In the 360 guide up the top left corner it has a battery icon but it isnt that accurate. Make your you have configured your controller by pressing the wireless buton on the top of the controller (next to the MS logo). Try this without the plug and play kit not pluged in and while the 360 controller is on

Never had any of these issues .
Perhaps I should read the documentation that comes with the 360 cos I didn't know what that little button at the top of the controller did, nor did I know that there was a battery charge indicator on the guide :chortle:

To 'link' a controller to the 360 you have to press the little round button (next to the memory card slot), then press the little round button on the top of the controller. If that doesnt work then there's either another device in the room intefering with the signal or your controller/360 is having a spaz attack.

this sounds realllly basic but have you been pressing and holding the guide button to turn the control on? If it is not picking it up that way, then yeah at the same time, you need to press the small button on the console and on your controller and it should pick it up, if this still isn't working, I'd suggest that you turn everything off, and leave your controller plugged into the console with play and charge pack, perhaps it just needs a good charge.

Err but if you turn your 360 off it won't charge the controller through the play-and charge kit will it? Well for me the light never turns on when the 360 is off, I have to turn the 360 on for it to light up either green or red and charge.

Play & Charge Kit
Very depleted rechargeable battery packs can take up to 20 minutes to charge enough to
power a controller for use with the Play & Charge Kit.
Connect Your Controller
Up to four controllers, wired and wireless, can be actively connected to an Xbox 360 console at one time. Each connected controller is assigned a quadrant on the Ring of Light. Before you can connect a wireless controller, at least one quadrant must be free (unlit).
To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Xbox Guide button for three seconds, and then turn the controller off.
To connect your wireless controller to your console:
1. Press and hold down the Xbox Guide button or the Start button until the controller turns on.
2. If your console is not on, press the power button to turn on the console.
3. Press and release the connect button on the console.
4. Press and release the connect button on the controller.
5. After the Ring of Light on the controller and console spin and flash once, the controller is connected. The quadrant that remains lit indicates the controller's position.
Notes
* When you turn off your console, your controller will still be connected the next time you turn it on.
* Your controller is connected to only one console at a time. You can connect to a new console at any time, but your connection to the previously connected console will be lost.
* The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller works only within 30 feet (nine meters) of the console. Objects between the controller and the console can reduce this range.
Turn Your Console and Controller On
The Xbox Guide button in the center of your controller puts the Xbox 360™ experience at your fingertips. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button to turn your console on.
To turn on your console only, press the power button on your console. To turn on your controller only, press the Start button on your controller.
Once on, pressing the Xbox Guide button gives you immediate access to the Xbox Guide. To turn off your console, press and hold the Xbox Guide button for three seconds and then confirm your selection.
Turn Your Console and Control Off
To turn your console and controller off, press and hold the Xbox Guide button on your controller for three seconds. Then select whether you want to turn off just your controller or both your controller and your console. (Selecting the console will turn off both the console and all connected controllers.)
To turn off your console only, press the power button on your console.
Err but if you turn your 360 off it won't charge the controller through the play-and charge kit will it?
If you are using the Play and Charge Kit and your controller isn't fully charged. If you turn the console off (while the play and charge kit is connected), it will go into a standby mode and continue to charge the battery. Once fully charged, the console will turn off automatically.
Hope this helps.

Absolutely: "Australia's Friendliest Xbox Site". Welcome Holty, and don't feel stupid... When my friend first got his 360, he couldn't get it working for the first half an hour because he hadn't pushed the power cable all the way into the back of the console. :chortle: The things you do when you don't want to break your brand spankin' new console... :D

nice work man, I would've been lost too but I had a mate who showed me the ways of the 360 before I bought mine :) Regarding play and charge I got an unnoficial one and mine lets me hook it up and use it as a corded controller if the battery is flat, and if I turn off the console it will still charge, all USB's are on even when console is off.
So does the official one Sam.....
