View Full Version : 360 Causing Damage to SD Television?

I've got a crappy little 15" SD TV in my room which my 360 is hooked up to and I've now noticed a orangey tinge to the left middle side of the screen during games. When I say orange its orange whenever there's a red area such as a car in TDU. When I change the channel to AV1 which is a blue screen a purple splodge appears in the same area as the orange blob. It gradually goes away but re-appears after playing a game for say an hour or more. Its the kinda patch or discolouration that you get if you expose a TV to a magnet yet there's no magnet near the screen or anything electrical for that matter. Well not where the problem occurs so I am wondering if the 360 is causing this.
Either way I am buying the VGA cable so I can run it on my LCD Monitor but I am wondering what is causing this problem and if its my 360.

Very unlikely that it is the XBOX. No speakers near the TV? I would just say it is co-incidence.

It is a crappy TV so can't expect much, Princess is the brand would you believe.
It just only happens during gameplay or rather whenever the 360 is on and showing on the screen.

If you can get hold of a degaussing wand, you could fix this problem.

The 360 is too hardcore for it I guess, oh well just got the VGA cable so its no more crappy SD.
Speaking of which I've got it hooked up to my monitor and it looks fantastic just need to sort out the sound. I've got some analog Logitech 5.1 speakers connected to my PC and I do have the AV dongle that allows you to use it with any gaming console ie. its got the female red and white AV connectors at one end and three headphone like jacks for the 5.1 speakers. I'd prefer to not have to fiddle around with disconnecting cables and connecting them whenever I want to game on my 360.
Now I can just connect up a pair of headphones but hey why waste a good set of speakers. The VGA cable did come with a what looks like a connector for the red and white AV cables and the other end is what I'd call a male headphone jack. Could I connect that too the headphone jack on my speakers and get sound through the speakers? The reason I am not sure is that I assume headphone jacks are only used for output of sound rather then input so that wouldn't work by that logic.
I just have hardly any knowledge when it comes to AV gear and all that kinda stuff, which is funny since with PC's I am in my element.

Had a similar problem, for me it was the Xbox power transformar thingy, keep it as far away from the tv as possible and it should go away.

You got the same AV cables as I did :) With it you should be able to plug that into the back of your PC in the audio input spot, and it should come through the speakers too, pretty sure pc would need to be on also.

Wow well it is close so you may be right, even though I am viewing it through my monitor there is still this problem with my TV. The power box is about 30cm away so I'll try and find somewhere else for it.
@sam - I've plugged it into my headphone jack on one of the speakers and through that I get 2.1 sound but only when I connect it half-way in.

The 360's probably trying to kill it so you have to buy a HD TV.
