Hi there! First time poster here.

Im about to get me a 360 (as soon as my tax monies clear ) so i wanna know if the games still look good on a standard definition TV, or if it's strongly recommended that i get a HDTV ASAP. I'm getting dead rising and Madden 07 as soon as i grab the 360, so i wanna know if the lowere definition is going to be bearable, or if it's going to frustrate the hell out of me...

I've heard Dead rising suffers pretty badly due to text being an unreadable blob.

Is there any way around this? My TV supports NTSC if that helps. Also, i have NO tech knowledge when it comes to electronic stuff. I'm okay with PC's, power tools and engines, but as soon as it comes to anything beyond those, my knowledge is precisely dick.

Any help beyond "BUY A HDTV" would be much appreciated!

(For those with no idea, feel free to yell "BUY A HDTV!" but i warn you, a part of you will die inside if you do this..)

Yeah as far as the games go in how they look they still look very decent but text is the real killer here. If its small text then you can bet you'll need to squint to read some things, obviously this depends on the size but even on biggish SD TV's I've heard it can still be a bitch to read as it will be big enough but blurry due to the SD.

Obviously getting a HDTV will solve that but hey that's just more money you need to spend, the best thing you can do is utilize your PC Monitor by buying the VGA cable that will let you connect your 360 to your monitor. Even a CRT monitor would be better so you don't have to have a LCD Monitor. Sound is the problem though as you'll need dedicated speakers, your PC speakers can be used but without some kind of switch you'll be mucking around with cords everytime you wanna play the 360. Still a cheapo solution until you can afford a HDTV or they come down in price.

Yeah at the moment i'm leaning towards getting a bank loan and then buying a cheaper HDTV aaround $1500 to $2000 but until i do that, i'll stick with the SDTV.

Who knows, like i said, i havent even got the game yet... or a 360 for that matter, so i'll play it on the SDTV first and see how i go me thinks.

Most games are fine on SD, but a couple have slipped through (ie, Dead Rising) that suck on them. Until you get a HDTV just stick to the games that work the best on SD. I can couch for Call Of duty 2, Oblivion and Tomb Raider. From experience, I can tell you to stay clear of Gun, Tony Hawkes American Wasteland, and from what I've heard, Dead Rising.

I can only vouch for Dead Rising(demo) on my little 15" CRT TV, and honestly I gave up trying to read the text that's how horrible it is. I haven't tried it on my 68cm SDTV though so I am not sure how the size changes the readability.
