:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Just bricked my NTSC/J xbox360 power supply unit accidentally and I doubt I can get one from MS since mine is a imported console.:banghead: :banghead:
Anyone know a place to buy the PSU seperately? Thanks...toooooons!

Hey Mate,
what do you mean you bricked it?? For a PSU you can try eBay but they are quite expensive there, I would ring up MS, explain the situation (don't need to say it's an import) and you could end up with an aussie PSU :) Not sure how much they would charge though.

I just plugged it directly into a 220v power point instead of the transformer (my psu is the Japan version which needed a transformer). I've tried eBay and I can't find any. You still think I can get a replacement from MS for a faulty one like this? Thanks mate!

hmm, that does sound good :( I'm not sure on this, but couldn't just doing that fry your xbox also? Someone else who knows a bit more about this stuff should see this thread soon.

Hey, I doubt wheather microsoft will sell u a psu seperately. If it happend recently you might just have to let it cool down, but if not go to hackaday.com (sorry dont have link) as they have a basic guide on running xbox 360 on a pc power supply. Dont know how reliable it is so you might want to do a bit of cross refrencing with other sites. Shouldnt be to hard to get the box up and running as its only power your after.
Im having withdrawals myself after getting the rings of death a couple of days ago.

Ring Microsoft and ask them if you can get a new PSU. Tell them that your little brother put it in the washing machine. EDIT: They can probably sell you one.

If you are able to get a replacement from MS Australia, the bonus to the whole situation should be that you will now have a 220/240V PSU able to be plugged straight into the wall without using a stepdown transformer. All the PSUs output the same DC on the console side; it's only the wall side input that's different.

Thanks mate, that's exactly why I wanted to get an aussie psu instead of a Japan one.

:( Mission Failed...... :(
I've just called them.
Once I gave them my consoles serial number, they immediately found out it is a Japan one. And the they are only giving three months warranty for periphrals (console itself is having one year warranty). They are offering to replace for a new one at the cost AU$118.00

Well that's a good price. Considering how much a step down transformer is. You can't expect a free one seeing as you fried it and it would never have been covered under warranty anyway.

yeah actually $118 isn't too bad a price considering how much a step down is :) but still a hefty fee.
