Thinking of grabbing a tv on the weekend. I'm on a tight budget ( under $1000) so im going for a widescreen crt. I noticed that many places have stopped stocking them so i thought i better act quickly. Any last minute advice ( what to get/avoid) would be greatly apreciated.
Cheers:)

Can you stretch your budget at all? Hidef makes a huge difference of standard def...You can get 81cm LCD's for $1400....(I'm glad I got one!)
Otherwise, I think any brand name CRT (Panasonic, Sharp etc), should do for the under $1k mark.

I would go for the telefunken from target $999 for 68cm widescreen HDTV

If you just want it for your xbox you can pick up a 19 inc widescreen lcd pc monitor for 299 these days with 5ms response time. I guess you can get a hd set to box and some sort of switch as well.

Or for an amazing 22inch Widescreen LCD monitor for around $500 - $540(DVI model) the Chi Mei which has had decent reviews is a excellent buy. Check best price with shopferret.com or
Smaller Branded 20inch monitor widescreens for a similar price
But if your after component a cheap no brand 66cm LCD TV can be found under $1000. www.dealsdirect.com.au or www.oo.com.au or Harvey Normans had a benq 66cm for $999.
But moving up to a 81cm LCD prices can vary but cheapest Ive seen is around $1100 for a no brand chinese manufactured.

I like DaLeroy's suggestion. Hi Def is definatly calling for me. I think i might stretch my budget a bit (~$1500). Any recommendations for a decent tv with a decent response time, native resolution etc...

I picked up the AWA for $1350 a while ago. They've got the newer model out, not sure what it's like. I've heard good things about the Acer tho, for about $1500.
