The one at JB for $1396 will be the M series model, This is now EOL and has been replaed by the R series which you posted in the link. It has game mode and HD tuner built in.
I got the LA32R71BDX 2 weeks ago and its awesome for me :)

To help sort out the confusion
The panel you have linked to is the R series, this is the top of the line latest model with built in HD tuner and HDMI
the M series Flaps is refering to is the old model with no HD tuner built in and DVI instead of HDMI, though still a very decent panel.
the model in the JB ad is the T series, which is a very basic panel compared to the previous 2, think of it as samsungs economy version.

Sorry thats my work talk... EOL = End Of Life. I believe the M series is being phased out. I saw JB Hi FI had this model for sale about 4 weeks ago for around $1600?
I got my R series very cheap due to a staff discount purchase. If you shop around and bargin you could get one for $1800 if your lucky.
There is a thread a few pots down about the M series. http://www.xboxworld.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=46815
