According to Advanced Media Network, anonymous sources claim that developer Silicon Knights has abandoned Unreal Engine 3 for use in Too Human, the company's long-in-development sci-fi adventure title. According to the report, Silicon Knights is finding Epic's next-gen engine isn't performing sufficiently on the Xbox 360. The reports suggest Silicon Knights is now building its own engine for the title.
When contacted, Silicon Knights declined to comment on the rumor.
As it stands, the company has long said that Too Human is being built using Unreal Engine 3 -- a platform which is quickly becoming ubiquitous for next-generation game development.

All i can say is its going to be a long time before we see to human if this is true and also Silicon knights just threw all that money spent on buying the licence to use unreal engine 3 down the drain.
Seriously, getting the rights to miodify Unreal engine 3 to their liking rather than building a completly new engine would off been a better choice.

Definately BS. Silicon Nights are just making excuses to cover their asses. If GoW, Splinter Cell DA, Mass Effect and R6: Vegas (these are the ones of the top of my head) can all run with UE3, why wouldn't Too Human be able to? Sounds like Siliscon Nights is having trouble and can't think of a good enough reason/need more time to learn the intricacies of the engine.

If you read the article that IGN got their info from:
Unfortunately, our sources were unable to reveal whether or not the new Too Human engine is being built ground-up or if it still uses some elements of the Unreal Engine.
This is not the first we have heard in regards to developers having trouble developing software using the Unreal Engine 3. For months now, we have heard stories that the engine is not easy to work with and is very buggy.
So they may in fact be using parts of the Unreal Engine, or they may be using all of it(it is a rumour after all).
Also, coding your own engine is a sure fire way to make sure that the engine does exactly what you want, and doesn't have any features that aren't used. Yes, you could modify the engine to do that, but who says they aren't? It is just a rumour after all.

Denis Dyack(president of Silicon Knights) has sent out a statement to Gamespot(and probably other gaming sites) denying the rumour.
