Coming really soon - announcement within the next 48hrs. However I have seen a somewhat reliable post on a forum that the announcement may actually be the demo itself. The game is out next week in the US, so the demo is expected within the next week anyway.

I was really keen on this game, but after seeing some gameplay vids, not so much.
The zombies look too easy to kill and I think they have overdone the blood spray. A video I saw everthing that a zombie was hit with including a plastic cactus and bench resulted in a massive gush of blood in every direction. methinks they could have saved some of the more gratuitous effects for weapons like swords and such that one would expect some effect from.

Overdone?! You can't possibly overdo anything in a game where the sole purpose is to beat on an endless horde of the walking dead with various objects you find in a shopping center!

I imagine the game draws from esteemed material like the George Romero films, and if so, gratuitous gore effects will only make it more effective!

I really want this game. Check out the new trailer at gametrailers.com there's a bit where he runs through 1000s of them. Sure 1 might die easily but when there's hundreds of them at once coming at you it's a dif story. This is so cool, it's practically a game of dawn of the dead!!! So cool.

You don't change it in the console settings. Easy way is to create a hotmail account with the US as your country, then sign up with a new gamertag and select that hotmail account and it'll select your country as the US.

You can also do this on the console itself but without a USB keyboard for your 360 it's probably quicker to do it on your PC. :)

Well its not as good as i thought it would be. You kill heaps of zombies, run away and come back and they are all there again.

Controls are pretty shite as well. Prob get better the more I play it.

Be careful not to run to far or the demo is over. It goes to a cut scene and then you have to start all over again.

The graphics are cool. Controls take abit to get used to. Like the aim when you first try it. Cool running through 100 zombies and firing the shotgun though.

I have it and have played for a while, still learning the controls, but this game is having heaps of fun!!
So far only used a sledge hammer, pot plant, hunting knife and jewels (they do nothing!!) and killed over 50 zombies in my first few minutes, I can see this game staying in my collection for a very long time!!

Update: Ok using a golf club/hockey stick looking thing to pop zombie heads off is very amusing, skateboarding is pretty fun as well, but then I died :(

The demo is pretty cool. 1gig is alot for a short demo though.

Graphics are sweet, lots of detail in the zombies and suroundings. weapons are really good. picked up a arm and slaped a zombie with it.

Lots of blood shed, u can pick up a pole with a sharp curved blade on it, wrap it around the zombies head and rip it off.

I thought the controlls were good. using the shotgun was easy with the fps mode.

Not sure yet if its worth buying, could get boring fast, needed more in the demo.

I've been reading the TXB topic on this (well, at least the last 20 or so pages of the 130 page topic). Seems like there's a fair amount of crap you can find in the demo such as the katana, SMG. Apparently cooking/blending food gives you powerups, or you can just cook oil on the pan and burn the zombies' faces off.

Sounds like fun.

And there's a nice reference to Resident Evil in there as well. Has anybody found it?

i found an smg,

Its on a ledge. near the start there is some stairs. halfway up you can jump onto a ledge.
walk aroind the edge of the wall and you will find a box, keep walking around more and a SMG will be sitting there on the ledge.

i think there is combo moves, as somtimes i an do like a 180 swing with the sledge hammer and take out about 5 zombies at once.

Shopping trolley and skateboard are fun to use.

Thanks dudes, if it were not for you fellas i would have not realised that the demo was even gettable for us aussies :D I started the download at 1.00am AEST, it was done by the time i awoke at 10.00am, so that is fine by me :D

Gotta say this has been the best demo i have downloaded to date. I had little expectations for the game, but it sets the atmosphere right from the get go, very very dawn of the dead style. Great graphics as well which really impressed me.

Love using stupid things like pot plants and cash registers to bash the shit out of zombies.. also love using the stupid toys that do little harm, like the glow in the dark toy sword, and the big stuffed animals :D

Like how you can change your clothes and stuff as well. Though i find the helmets a bit distracting. Love that when you hit zombies with the electric guitars you hear a twang, so if you go on a rampage you get a nice little tune happening :D

HATE that it's a demo i want the whole game :D

Ps I also love that the corpses do not dissapear and that you can still mutilate the shit out of them if you so wish :D

The demo is shockingly short and limited, which is crap cause demos are supposed to really impress you. But from what I played, it is sooo cool. Love the shopping cart, charge through them, and the bowling ball u can knock heaps down. So cool, so many weapons and things to do. I seen about 4 cut scenes so far. One in the cinema, one when u go outside, one if you go left right at the begining and one after a time period.

Oh, I was more thinking of "Jill's Sandwiches" - after that one cheesy scene in RE where Jill nearly gets crushed by the ceiling, and Barry or whoever goes "You nearly became a Jill Sandwich".

I wonder if you can become the master of lockpicking as well.

Oh, and apparently holding the attack button for longer will result in different attacks, making the scythe rather deadly.

Yeah, the katana is fantastic, you can just carve through the crowds :D This game is awesome, I can't believe we didn't get the demo on our marketplace. Has anyone tried the "frying pan face cook" yet, its pretty good. And the baseball bat homerun swing is very cool. I can't wait for the full game, I'll have another 200+ weapons to play around with :D

I found out that if you go into any of the bookstores you can find books that will teach you new things. Also, I checked the menu and there are some moves you can do, like jumping on top and running across the zombies heads. There's a jump kick too.

Worst weapon in the game so far is the water gun.

Shows shit load of different weapons you can use. eg. This huge drill, you drill through a zombie and it stays on the drill part spinning while you take out more. looks awesome. They also show you with a mower/greater machine and you can run over the zombies and the limbs fly off everywhere.

Does anyone know what the different juices do(the juice maker is upstairs in the cafe)?

I've managed to make a few different kinds, but the only one I sussed out was 'Untouchable'(pretty obvious what it does). I also made 'Nectar' and 'Spitfire'(I was hoping for firebreath :D ).


I also found a cleaver(it's in a box, underneath one of the sets of stairs) which was like a better version of the hunting knife.

Oo, I found out what Spitfire does and it's hilarious.

To make the Spitfire juice mix Baking Flour(it's called something like that) and a Pie.

Pies are readily available in the upstairs cafe, where the juicer is.
You should be able to get some Flour from one of the boxes underneath the fire exit-y stairs(the ones around back of the shops, not the huge open ones near where you start).

Once you drink the juice, unequip your weapon(up on the dpad), hold down the right trigger, and start shooting those zombies. :chortle:

Katana -
From the start of the demo, continue foward til you reach the first staircase on your right. The staircase is just outside of "Kid's Choice Clothing". Go up the staircase, and enter "Columbian Roastmasters", which should be on your left. Go towards the windows, and find the window that has an Orange canopy outside of it. Jump out of that window, and onto the canopy, to find the Katana.

* Blender Drinks:
Energizer (Green) - Randomizer + Zombie Bait - Supercharges you.

Oh this game is good.
The Katana is the greatest thing ever.
Some people have claimed to have found a machine gun but Im yet to see proof.
Making zombies slip on oil is gold! also heating the frying pan and putting it on zombies faces. Anyone know if anything goes in the oven?

Also Boomerangs are an awsome weapon, Although spitting on people is fun haha.

There really is a submachine-gun Benjamin...you have to go up the first set of stairs, then jump onto the shop awnings to the right and follow it all the way back to where you started. it's almost directly above-right your character's starting spot I think! If I could be arsed I'd take a photo, but there's dozens of shots and guides on the net that tell you how to find it.

I just recently won an xbox 360, ..last friday at 3:50pm to be exact, and I got a horrible call on monday saying that they havent recieved the xbox360 from microsoft yet, and that they'll get it later this week, and I'll probably have it sometime next week.

I'm glad that I can just go on xbox live market place now...the aussie one, and download away...because I really didnt want to have to go through the trouble of setting a US account up :S

I downloaded it last night. I'd been holding off, because I'm rather restricted with my download limit at the moment, but I really wanted it, so I gave it a go. No idea how long it took, just that it was less than the 8 hours I spent sleeping. Seems fun, but I think now that I've played it I can hold off buying it till it's a little cheaper, as opposed to rushing out and getting it on release.

Yes I do love that lil pack of zombies on the stairs, I love jumping on ones head then crowd surfing over all of them. Then simply going to the top of the stairs and shooting them wid uzi or shotgun :D

From what Im hearing on the US forums the game is great, Alot more in depth than people once thought. Looking foward to picking this one up

In the kids choice clothing store you can put on the kids clothes and then go into the storeroom in the back... and put on the head from a Horse costume. Looks pretty funny.

Upstairs if you kill the zombie wearing the small dress and take a photo at the right angle :P you get 2 erotica points and a great.


Baking Sugar + Orange juce makes Nectar... not sure what this powerup does.

at the moment watching heaps of 28 Days Later and (Return, Land, Dawn)- of the Dead films...just to get me in the mood :ogre: :spin:

also anyone noticed on the demo preview ...it says this game is no way endorsed by George A Romero (godfather of zombie flicks)...wonder why Capcom made such an obvious point to distance themselves from such an obvious influence....Dawn of the Dead( 2004) is set in shopping mall.....

I just got my xbox360 yesterday (prize xbox360) with fifa 2006 (most frustrating and crap game i've ever played!), so far I've downloaded Dead Rising (I did that over night) and The outfit (which just so happened to be MULTIPLAYER :( ).
So this morning, I woke up, and decided I might play some dead rising...first time ever playing it...but something was different, I didn't feel a great rush like I would with a game i'm hyped about...that's only because i am not hyped about dead rising and I don't think it will be anything super special.

However...the demo IS just a DEMO, it shows nothing of the proper game at all...

Anyway...I actually don't enjoy playing the demo...way to repetative, I got bored of it very quickly, I tried building forts out of benches, I tried barricading a shop/store, I tried getting every bear head, horse head and yellow lego looking thing that isn't lego, and I put that on as many zombies in the one area as possible.
I've tried killing as many zombies as possible and only end up killing about 200 or so :s (I only tried this the last time I played though, and I did other things).

I tried mixing all ingredients around...and then I found that resteraunt down the bottom floor near the cinema and...OH!, would ya look at that, even more ingredients...but then I was trying to make zombait and had no idea how.

I also went into as many of the cutscene things as possible.
First I went into the door to the right where you start....then I went backwards which showed the sniper scene, then I went to the door outside and that showed the convicts, then I went to the cinema and that was about all I could find...I don't think there are any more...I have no idea...
I tried finding secret weapons, I easily found the katana...the smg I had no idea where that was, because I couldnt find any more awnings around.

Basically...the demo got old, fast...the fort building thing got frustrating, as I was only using benches anyway...but...yeah...fort building is extremely hard to do.

I already knew about zombie females going onto their knees to attack you...which is rather funny...and...well...it doesnt look like she's biting the player, because she has her mouth open and is wiggling the head while moving it back and forward (capcom you dirty ...people..make the latino chick or the blonde girl (jessie) do that!...not zombies!)

I tried doing the little trick that allows the player to go outside...but I have no clue as to how to achieve that at all.

I just bought myself a new graphics card on my computer (XFX geforce 7800GS 256mb agp)...and it's time I start playing with it for a while.

This game must be too gory for some countrys,i heard on the radio today that germany has banned the game outright and a couple other countrys have to have some major editing before they let it through,but the game dude on the radio said it looks like the aussie version will be uncut like the ntsc version which is good.

Reminds me when we got the aussie version of Contra III: The Alien Wars on the super nintendo years ago we got crappy robots instead of the human character the ntsc version got.
