Hi all.
Lately there has been quite a few people linking to sites that specialise in the modificatons of Xbox's.
Below you will see Rule 6 of the forum rules. Please read through it carefully. Lately we have allowed the discussions of modchipping, but some people keep posting those links...
Rule [6] :: Mod Chip discussion is not allowed. We encourage developers and publishers to visit these forums and their view on Mod chipping for software piracy is one that we share as well. No discussion on where to buy Mod Chips or pirated software will be tolerated. Posters will be given one warning and one warning only. Posts mentioning imported games are fine, posts mentioning copying software to modded xbox hard drives etc are not. We agree, it's a contentious issue and there are many cool things that you can do on a modded Xbox but Australian laws have made the sale of mod chips illegal. And please respect our request on this subject. If you have any questions please PM Shane before posting.
Software Piracy is illegal. This topic is simply not allowed on our forums.
As it stands right now, modchipping a console is illegal. You may have heard that somebody won the right to modchip a PS2 through the courts, which in turn opened the door for modchippers around Australia to mod all consoles legally. This ruling has since been overturned in the Supreme Court and it is now illegal again. An appeal has been lodged to the High Court of Australia, but has not been heard yet.
Why do we ask you don't link to mod sites? Easy.. The majority of mod sites have prices on modchips, where to buy them and how to install them. We are aware there are a small minority of people that have their Xbox's chipped for the media aspect of it only, but if we have one rule for all then there is no confusion about posting subjects on this topic.
If you are unsure about the content the best way to avoid posting something you shouldn't is to not post it at all. If you have any questions then please contact an Admin via PM or email and we'll be happy to assist you.
Thank You
