I don't really have a gaming setup so to say. I have a clear/silver xbox under the family tv. Which is a shitty 51 cm, one speaker pos. I'm green with envy at some of em huge plasmas :banghead:

i havnt got much, 51cm NEC with 680's which makes it a lot better but its still not very good as the tv is squashed in a wardrobe and i could prolly only fit a 59cm tv in there at most

Spud, Why is your XBOX bigger on the top? Just curios, anyway my setup is pitful compared to some of yours! So heres mine and I've labled it all like some other have for yu to know whats going on. BTW this is my bedroom, as I only use my bedroom for movies most of the time. And my XBOX is packed up because I havnt played it for yonks, and am considering selling it, but it would be next to the TV.

It's an add-on called the Xbox X-Tender. It allows you to run 3 hdd's instead of just the one. I run my original hdd for Xbox LIVE gaming, an 80gb modded hdd for running games, apps and emulators directly off the hdd and the third hdd is in the process of becoming and debug Xbox hdd (XDK) which I will use to take proper in-game screenshots and videos with.

What I got at the moment is the 51cm Sony TV, Panasonic Superlong Play VCR, Hitachi DVD player, Sony 60 disc CD Player, the Z680's and of course the sweeeeeeet chair. And the Dreamcast (god bless it) and the xbox. And a Gamecube on the way from NZ when my parents get back from their holiday.

My setup isn't worth mentioning, I'm not really a gamer, just play occassionally. 48cm tv, old and ordinary, very old vcr, ordinary.. Simple stereo, ordinary.. Single xbox.

Shall eventually take my z640's downstairs to the xbox and bring the stereo back upstairs to me.
I'd love two sets.

Next up of course is to get myself a wide/flat screen. Reasonably sized, just too many other things on my plate.

The rear shot is an old one as the projector on the ceiling is now gone. It died of old age. A brilliant projector though, just brilliant. The new one is an EPSON EMP-TW10. I run the dvd player, Xbox, HDTV STB and pc through the VGA connection, the VCR through the composite connection, the PS2 uses component connection (well it will when I buy the connection) and the S-Video connection is spare atm.

The projector is awesome with a massive throw distance at such a short length as you can see. True widescreen picture with a support for all interlaced and progressive modes you can think of hehe. Only thing missing is a DVI input but I don't have anything that uses DVI atm bar the PC but I only run the PC on there for Grand Prix Legends so it's not a necessity.

I would post pics of me setup but then I'd have the police rescue looking for survivers.

In the bedroom I have my own set up wich consits of a teac 66cm widescreen telly wich I run the xbox into via SCART RGB.

For sound I have sony midi system, well thoughs sound crap so I have replaced the midi system with Yamaha reciever but run through the sonys speakers, so much improved there. It's Pro Logic unfortunatly but it's better then sterio.

In the lounge room were I get to drag out my xbox ever now and then I have the pleaser of DD 5.1 set up including Yammah reciever, and Ricter speakers wich sound pritty dam good.

For the display a 50" NEC HD plasma wich is very nice :)

Eventualy, when I save up enoughf dosh I'll be upgrading my room to a DD DST 5.1 or 7.1 set up and hopefuly a projector, most likely Panasonic AE-700.

Cost me $450. Its so cumfy. If u get real tired you don't even have to get up to go to bed.....you can just sleep in the chair. ITS GREAT. Definately my best gaming/entertainment investment so far. Until my new TV comes along...

You have omitted the fact that Xbox has the best FPS (halo or halo 2 - take your pick ps2 has nothing close), Xbox will be recieving San Andreas this June (with superior graphics and custom soundtracks) and Forza motorsport is coming out rather soon (GT4 killer). RPG's you've got the two Star wars republic games and Jade Empire coming soon. Plus let's not forget Fable. Fighting... bases covered. Sports (amped, tony, tiger woods etc.)

Now I'm by no way claiming that everyone should have xbox's (each to his own) but for crying out loud as far as game quality goes ps2 is by no means the 'king.'
And I geuss we should avoid the fact that ps2 is far less powerful 'under the hood.'

The way I bought my console was; What games? The difference of how the games played on each machine & value for money. So ofcourse I bought a Xbox. My PS2 friends all wish they bought a xbox instead too.

Anyways I sit on a beanbag or my couch. I have a Teac 68cm & Xbox no fancy sound system or woopde do dah gismos. It plays very well for me & there is no need to change anything (how I'd love too but I have a wife & kids that spend all my money)

As for the advanved arcatecture or what ever you call it. The fact remains, the PS2 can't do graphics as good as the Xbox. The Xbox has a built in hard drive wich alows for custum sound tracks and downloadable content wich I think is awsum and realy extends the possibilities of gaming.

Not to mention the PS2 is dificult to program for. The Xbox and Game Cube are much easier to program for, they are x86 and PowerPC based machines after all.

Marketing plays a roll here for sure, I can't deny that. It was just your first statement where you were making out that marketing was the main thing that made the PS2 successfull. It made me question your train of thought because the statement simply isn't true.

Take Fable for example, the marketing on that game was huge but was it all that is was cracked up to be? For most no.

I think the Dreamcast stands as a very good example of a console that had a slab of good games but just didn't sell well. The machine just had a bad image realy. I remember when they droped the price, the number of consoles doubled in Europe, I think that was about the time I got one too.

I think because the systems are equal in generation there are always gonna be some games better on xbox and some games better on ps2.

I believe sales figures are largely based on AVAILABILITY of games. And i dont mean how many k-marts you find them at. I mean how easy it is to pirate games. Dont get me wrong, there are many people who do the right thing and purchase all their games for their chosen system. But do you think the majority of 15 yr olds with a part time job which earns them under 100 a week is gonna go and regularly spend 100 bucks on a new game???

A HUGE percentage of video game system sales is based on how easy it is to get games cheaper than retail (ie: copying/saving to HD)

back when the Amiga computer was out, games were actually at the same price (about 70 to 100 bucks) and the money was worth more then... but because it was so easy to copy games for amiga, the system flourished and was at one stage the largest selling home computer of its time!

You do have to have a moded console though, to play burned games and copy to HDD, well on the Xbox anyway, I don't know about the PS2. Not to mention it's not walk in the palk for most people.

Any way the Dreamcast had bad sales figures no matter how you looked at it and it wasn't cause of piracy. There's no way to explain Dreamcast failer other than a few factors but mainly Sega's bad console reputaion. Some how, people just didn't bother with this machine in the end, was it logical? No of course not! You gotta market your product right and get the right image hapening, and even that might not be enough to convince the massess.

What I will say and will stick by, is that Sony are very good at marketing there machines. It's not the be all end all. The machine has to be half decent, have a big libary with viraty (not necesarily high ranking games), some AAA titles, some exclusives. I personaly see more advertising by Sony than M$, next to nothing by Nintendo. So Sony are very good at getting there product out there, be seen and heard, shove mental images in peoples minds. And with massive reputation behind the Playstation name, jebus it's sucha well reconised name!

So in closing I will say, that Sony could market dog sh!te and people would buy it!! :)

Set up wise, SONY 76CM WEGA Widescreen, with SONY 5.1 receiver, and SONY 5.1 speakers. ((coincidence it ended up all being SONY)).

On the xBox , PS2 issue I have both but the PS2 sits there collecting dust. I prefer the xBox, but I did have a PS2 from launch day until mid last year before going to the xBox.

Both systems have merit, but I find when I have more than 1 console, the older one collects dust. Happened when I had a N64 then got a PSX.

It works well with Forza and I love it! I can actually ride the curbs now, before I went on the grass whenever I try to ride the curbs. Only problem is whenever I jump in my car, I want to take racing lines, thankfully I have some commonsense :D.

yea its a 5 mega pixel camera that my brother got for xmas it was like $150 for strathfield car radio. Though on the box it says up to 7.2 megapixels so i dont know ?

Well FINALLY got a digital camera today. So have been happy snapping all day.

At the moment, the flagship is definately the Sony KVHR36M31, a HD TV.
Connected to it are the Gamecube and Xbox via component, Dreamcast by S-video, Hitachi DVD player via S-video, Panasonic Super long play VCR.
Sound is via the Logitech Z-680's and the 60disc Sony MP3 stereo.
Seating is porvided courtesy of the recliner or the bed depending on whether its gaming or movies. Thinking of replacing it with racing seats...
Tucked away to the left is another Sony 51cm Trinitron Tele, for those co-op sessions, along with a N64 and 200+ dvds.

I have the P&C kit, and the battery has lasted me about 13 days before the lights starts flashing (Using the headset nearly every day aswell!). I've only charged it twice, once after 13 days, and the other time after 12 days :D

I charge it over-night, when i'm asleep, so I dunno how long it takes to fill-up...

Yeah, the 360 goes into a sort of stand-by mode (not exactly sure what you'd call it) and the controller will charge. When it's finished charging the 360 turns off completely. :)

It really depend on how long your gaming sessions go for. On and off... maybe week or two. I mostly use the wired controller and I'll keep at it until I can get a P&C kit and some rechargeable batteries.

The 360 is now on the right bookshelf and the Halo See Thru Green Xbox (which is hard to see in the picture) is where the 360 was. Using a Philips 32" HD LCD TV Model 32PF9966.

When this picture was taken (a few weeks back) the 360 was connected through the component cables supplied with the 360, it is now connected with HD Component cables.

* Not pictured, but below the TV are a DVD player and Philips HD Set Top Box.

Well with the component cables supplied with the 360 the image on screen had a yellow hue to it. When I switched to the hd component cables the yellow hue disappeared making the image more bright.

I wouldnt know about GT4, I don't own it :D

I brought the Joytech High Def Component cables from Games Wizards, basically the same as the High Def Official Microsoft Component Cables but $10 cheaper.

See how the flames on the Porsche have a total yellow look to them? Thats a yellow hue to the image.

When I connected the high def component cables the flames turned to their original red and yellow image and the screen looked a more crisper.

I've found every device I own with both Component RGB and VGA connections like my HDSTB, old Xbox and DVD Player that the VGA cable DB15 does the best job and it is very noticable. I'm running a projector though so I may be seeing the difference a little bit more than most. But I highly recommend getting the VGA cable the 360 if you have a display unit that supports it.

This may help you out Mob.Furor but I think in your case the picture is a little bit too far to the right of the screen which is why your getting that thin line showing up. It's like when your watching TV and you can see the data or a counter of some sort running at the top of the screen (sometimes at the bottom).

Yeh fair enough. I've got 3 devices running VGA cable now so I had to buy a switchbox cos' monitors and tv's only come with one VGA connection as we all know. Cost me an arm and a leg too for the switchbox cos' it had to support 1920x1080 resolution so as to be compatible with HD.

Alrighty , Here is my setup.
I have an 'el cheapo AkAI 68cm for just watching Dvds and the tellie, thats hooked up to the LG 5.1.

For the xbox 360 I use to just play it through the 68cm SD Tv, using the shitty RCA cables, BUT using the Optical out for the Audio to work with 5.1. A few days ago I went out and spend a few hundred on the ViewSonic 19" Widescreen LCD, Looks amazing and didnt cost be too much, I move it closer to my recliner when im playing it too, (2 brandnew jasonlazyboys rocker recliners ) the 360 is now Its hooked up to a Sony Amp using the Optical audio cable and the VGA cables to the 720P HighDeff LCD. I just use headphones for now because I dont want heaps of speakers lying around.

hehe thanks heaps mate!! :D Well first off parents didn't buy anything, all paid for by myself, and pretty much, I've just been working at a video store for about 2 years now, (since I was 13/14), and just been saving and spending since I started. So yeah just working every weekend and saving :)

Ok.. well finally (it's been a long time coming) i've invested into an LCD screen.

32" LG 32LC2R.. I am yet to fully try it out but I played PGR3 and Oblivion on it and was amazed.

I had rockstar on it when I took the photo. I know it's not an 80" screen or anything but I don't like the quality of projectors and rear screens.. I am majorly impressed by this TV and it runs the 360 at 720p as well as 1080i

Can someone tell me how to get the image in fullsize.

I actually dont use this much for xbox 360, I used too many hours when i first got my US Xbox360. So by the time the Pal xbox 360 came out, I purchased a 26inch Sammy LCD. We also have the 2nd xbox360 setup on a CMV 19inch widescreen monitor.

mah thats the m series, the previous model. I dont think the panel or specs them selves are different, just the fact that the R series has an inbuilt HD reciever. The R series is the model 2 posts above.
